The Office of Financial Affairs strives to provide timely, accurate, and meaningful financial information to support management decision-making.
The OFA’s fiscal responsibility includes monitoring of finances and maintenance of compliance within the University standards. The OFA team focus is to effectively and efficiently support the College of Dentistry’s mission in education, research and patient care.
Mike Harner Heading link
Associate Dean of Finance and Business Administration
Dr. Michael Harner has been with The University of Illinois for over 23 years, he joined The College of Dentistry’s Leadership Team as The Associate Dean of Finance and Business Administration in 2015. Dr. Harner holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Master’s Degree of Business Administration, Master’s Degree of Art and a Doctorate in Education. Dr. Harner’s role at The College of Dentistry is responsible for overseeing State Appropriations, Tuition and Fees, Administrative Operations, Gifts and Endowments and Grants and Community Contracts. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and training for triathlons.
Alexander Adamov Heading link
Associate Director of Financial Operations
Alex became part of the College of Dentistry family in 2018. He obtained his Bachelor in Finance and Masters in Business Administration from Northeastern Illinois University. He oversees operational, financial, regulatory, and business standards and activities for the College. Other than work, Alex enjoys reading, going to the movies and spending time with family and friends.
Elizabeth Ziemba Heading link
Associate Director of Revenue Cycle Operations and Reporting
Elizabeth joined The College of Dentistry in 2013 and she is a proud UIC Alumni. She is passionate about providing access to quality Oral Health Care for our community. She is responsible for The College’s revenue cycle operations including medical billing, dental billing, private and public insurance, denial management and patient accounts. She holds Master’s in Public Administration; a Bachelor’s in Health Information Management and is a Registered Health Information Administrator. Elizabeth specializes in Revenue Cycle Management and Business Process Improvement. Outside of the office, Elizabeth enjoys spending time volunteering for animal rescue and going on hikes with her German Shepherd.
Carlos Finney Heading link
Business Administrative Associate
Carlos joined the College of Dentistry in 2013. He graduated from Governors State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He is currently the Business Administrative Associate for the Office of Financial Affairs where he helps manage the finances for the Business office in addition to the other administrative departments within the College. Outside of the office, Carlos enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for all of Chicago’s sport teams.

Medical Insurance Associate
Misha joined The College of Dentistry in 2017. She is enthusiastic about monitoring operations surrounding the College’s dental enterprise and improving the impact of oral health in the larger community. She has a Bachelor in Health Informatics and Information Management from Florida A&M University. Misha is dedicated to coordinating data for the College’s public and private insurances, claim denials, and explanation of benefits. Outside of the office, Misha loves to read books, spend time with family and friends, watch Lifetime and travel.

DaShara joined the College of Dentistry in 2013 and became a member of the dental billing team in 2018. She has professional training from Illinois School of Health Careers combined with over ten years of experience in the dental field, serving as a dental assistant and administrative staff. Outside of the office, DaShara enjoys spending time with family and friends, skating, and crafting.
Yolanda Avila Heading link
Dental Clinic Clerk I
Yolanda joined the College of Dentistry in 2018. She has 9 years of experience in the dental field and overall is a great addition to our team. Yolanda handles the supplemental requests from insurance providers in addition to daily reconciliations. Outside of the office, Yolanda enjoys rollerblading down Lake Shore Drive, traveling, and dinning at the variety of restaurants we have throughout the city.
Bridgett Stevenson Heading link
Medical Insurance Assistant Manager
Bridgett joined the College of Dentistry in 2018. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She is a licensed Certified Billing and Coding Specialist. Bridgett handles the medical billing, diagnosis and procedure coding, as well as the allocation of patient and insurance payments for the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She also handles the anesthesia billing for the Outpatient Care Clinic anesthesiologists. Outside of the office, Bridgett enjoys spending time with family and friends, mentoring women, taking walks along the lakefront, and making jewelry.
Coretta Weaver Heading link
Medical Insurance Specialist
Coretta joined the College of Dentistry September 2017. She has been in the medical field for over 22 years specializing in billing, coding and auditing. Coretta holds both a CMPA and CMC coding certification. She is responsible for the billing and coding of medical and dental claims, financial clearances for inpatient, outpatient and clinic surgeries and internal auditing. Outside of work, she loves spending time relaxing and watching a good movie, spending time with friends, traveling and of course spending time with her daughter that is a lot of fun.
America Garcia Heading link
Medical Billing Clerk
America joined the College of Dentistry in 2020 and has over 7 years of experience in the dental field. She graduated from Dominican University and has always had a passion for helping her community. As part of the team, America is responsible for medical billing and financial clearances, helping improve access to quality dental care in the Chicago Area. Outside of the office, America loves reading, catching a live musical performance, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Medical Billing Clerk
Daniela joined the College of Dentistry in 2018. She is a Certified Dental Assistant through the DANB and has over 8 years of experience in dentistry. Daniela joined the medical billing team in December of 2020, and is currently studying Medical Billing and Coding at DeVry University. Daniela handles the medical and dental clinic billing, ER hospital billing, as well as prior authorizations for both clinic and hospital cases for the department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Outside of the office, Daniela enjoys visiting Chinatown, attending anime conventions, reading manga, drinking tea, and spending time with her family.
