Dr. Scott Tomar to Serve as Interim Associate Dean for Research and Department Head of Oral Biology

Dr. Scott Tomar, current Professor and Associate Dean for Prevention and Public Health Sciences, will serve as the Interim Associate Dean for Research and Department Head of Oral Biology at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry effective April 16, 2022. Dr. Tomar will serve these roles in addition to his current roles of Associate Dean for Prevention and Public Health Sciences and Professor for the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Tomar’s significant experience as an academic and public health leader and his extensive research and grant portfolio make him well qualified to lead during this transition. Dr. Tomar joined the UIC College of Dentistry in April, 2020 with a strong academic and service history having worked in the federal government’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta and numerous universities. He received his dental degree from Temple University, his MPH from Columbia University with board certification in Dental Public Health (following training at University of Michigan) and his doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) from the University of Michigan.
