About
Dr. Orlando Abreu was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela where he received his Dental degree from the Universidad Santa Maria, School of Dentistry. After completing his undergraduate dental education, he moved with his wife to Puerto Rico to pursue a two-year General Practice Residency in Dentistry (GPR), and also a Postdoctoral Master of Sciences in Clinical and Translation Research, both at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan.
After dental school, he practiced as a General Dentist in Virginia’s New River Valley before moving to Chicago with his family. Once in Chicago, he completed his post doctoral specialty training in Periodontics, and a Masters of Science in Oral Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Dentistry. During his last year of residency at UIC, he served as the Chief Resident, and also received the Dr. Charles F. Di Franco Scholarship. After graduation, Dr. Abreu became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Abreu is a fan of the “back-to-back” World Series Champions Toronto Blue Jays, Virginia Tech Hokies and Leones del Caracas baseball club at his hometown in Venezuela. His wife, and dental school sweetheart, is a Pediatric Dentist, and they have three beautiful children. In their free time, they enjoy going to the beach, traveling, and discovering new culinary options and family activities in Chicagoland.
