About
Dr. Mandelaris attended the University of Michigan, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He completed a post-graduate residency program at the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry, earning a Certificate of Specialty in Periodontology and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Mandelaris is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has served as an examiner for Part II (oral examination) of the American Board of Periodontology’s certification process. Dr. Mandelaris is a Fellow in both the American and International College of Dentists. Dr Mandelaris is a two time recipient (2017 and 2021) of the American Academy of Periodontology’s (AAP) Clinical Research Award- an award given to the most outstanding scientific article with direct clinical relevance in Periodontics. A nationally recognized expert, he was appointed by AAP to co-chair the Best Evidence Consensus Workshop on the use of CBCT Imaging in Periodontics as well as co-author the academy’s guidelines. In 2018, he was recognized with American Academy of Periodontology’s Special Citation Award. Dr. Mandelaris is the 2018 recipient of The Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning and served as Past President of the Illinois Society of Periodontists.

Dr. Mandelaris's current research activities include involvement in a prospective, multicenter, non-randomized, controlled clinical study utilizing non-guided vs. guided surgery to immediately load PrimeTaper implants in partially edentulous patients via a national practice based clinical research network.
