About
Dr. Flavia Lakschevitz earned her DDS degree from Fluminense Federal University, Brazil, and an MSc in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from the same University before relocating to Canada to pursue her PhD and Certificate/MSc in Periodontology at the University of Toronto. She is a Board-Certified Periodontist and ITI Fellow.
Her interest in digital dentistry started almost 10 years ago when she joined UTHealth in Houston as a full-time faculty member of the periodontics department. It increased when she relocated to Canada in 2018 as director of the Graduate Periodontology Program at UBC. There, she received a Grant to implement a Digital Dentistry Lab, integrating all of UBC's Graduate Programs. She learned firsthand the challenges of integrating systems and dealing with regulatory roadblocks. Before joining UIC in 2024, she was the Graduate Periodontology Program Director at the University of Minnesota, where she also implemented a digital curriculum for the residents.
