About
Dr. Donnace Jathan was born and raised on the beautiful island of Jamaica where her interest for oral health was sparked. With no dental school on the island at the time, she decided to migrate to pursue her passion in Dentistry.
In May 2016, she graduated from Antillean Adventist University in Mayaguez Puerto Rico, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then worked as a dental assistant before pursuing her dream of becoming a dentist. In May 2022, Dr. Jathan graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Dentistry with her Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
During her time in dental school, Dr. Jathan’s commitment to leadership was evident through her roles in multiple student organizations including serving as President of the Special Care Dental Association and Vice President of the American Association of Women Dentists UMSOD chapter. Her dedication extends to community service where she volunteered with organizations like Autism Speaks and has contributed her time in molding the minds of future dental professionals through mentorship programs. During her time, Dr. Jathan was one of eight students who received the General Practice award for her capstone project. She also earned induction into the Gamma Pi Dental Honor society.
Following her dental school graduation, she completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certificate program where she provided dental care to Maryland’s Eastern Shore community.
In her free time, Dr. Jathan enjoys baking, food photography, spending time with her family and friends and playing tennis.
