UIC Orthodontic Residents Awarded Dr. Thomas M. Graber Awards of Special Merit

Dr. Samim Taraji and Dr. Karen Homsi, two recent graduates of UIC Department of Orthodontics have won two distinguish American Association of Orthodontists Awards this year – the Dr. Thomas M. Graber Awards of Special Merit.
Dr. Samim Taraji (mentored by Dr. Mohammed H. Elnagar) for his paper titled “Novel machine learning algorithms for prediction and treatment decision in patients with Class III Malocclusions” (Authors: Samim Taraji , Salih Furkan Atici, Budi Kusnoto, Veerasathpurush Allareddy, Grace Viana, Michael Miloro , Mohammed H. Elnagar). This study was funded by the Brodie Craniofacial Chair Endowment.
Dr. Karen Homsi (mentored by Dr. Mohammed H. Elnagar) for her paper titled “Clinical evaluation of artificial intelligence driven remote monitoring technology at tracking tooth movement and reconstruction of 3D digital models during fixed orthodontic treatment” (Authors: Karen Homsi, Vivian Snider, Budi Kusnoto, Phimon Atsawasuwan, Grace Viana, Veerasathpurush Allareddy ,Praveen Gajendrareddy , Mohammed H. Elnagar). This study was funded by American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, Robert M. Ricketts Sunflower Orthodontics Fellowship Award.
