Congratulations to Dr. Emelia Karkazis, UIC orthodontic resident class of 2024, won 2nd place in the Dr. William R. Proffit Resident Scholar Awards: Basic Science Research category at the 2024 Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Emelia Karkazis’ research presentation title is “Bone Characterization in a Novel Dicer-deficiency Osteocyte Transgenic Mouse Model.” Her research team includes Drs. Sullivan Lown, Grace Viana, Maysaa Oubaidin, David Reed, Christina Nicholas, and Phimon Atsawasuwan.
The UIC orthodontic department is proud of this exceptional achievement of Dr. Karkazis in orthodontic research.
