Dr. Emelia Karkazis (Class of 2024) was awarded the 2025 Thomas M. Graber Award of Special Merit by the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) for her research titled “Bone Characterization in a Novel Dicer-Deficient Mouse Model Specific to Osteocytes”. This project was mentored by Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan (Primary mentor) and Drs. Christina Nicholas, David Reed, and Grace Viana (mentor team). This is a wonderful accomplishment and proud moment for UIC Orthodontics.
