Guest speaker: Dr. Louis G. Mercuri, Visiting Professor, Rush University Medical Center, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Adjunct Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Illinois Chicago
Two lectures: "TMJ Facts and Foibles" and "Oh No, Not a TMJ Patient"
Learning objectives:
- Explain how the past shortcomings negatively affected the management of TMJ disorders.
- Describe how recent research has positively affected the management of TMJ disorders.
- Provide an evidence-based plan for management of extra- and intra-articular TMJ disorders, based on that
information. - Discuss why dentists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons avoid management of TMJ patients.
- Identify the elements involved in the successful outcomes of any intervention.
- Articulate why oral and maxillofacial surgeons and other dentists should consider including management of TMJ
patients in their practices.
This lecture is open to all and is eligible for 2.5 continuing education credits. There are no financial relationships to disclose.
