Students Gabija Revis and Jessica Williams Honored

Students Gabija Revis and Jessica Williams Honored

The Chicago Area Schweitzer Fellowship Program’s Annual Celebration of Service was held in April.

That event was the graduation ceremony for the Fellowship class of the 2016-17 academic year. Students Gabija Revis and Jessica Williams were honored.

Dr. Robert Rada, Clinical Professor, Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, who served as a faculty mentor for Revis, and Dr. Caswell Evans, Associate Dean for Prevention and Public Health Sciences, attended the ceremony. Dr. Evans also serves on the Schweitzer Program Advisory Council.

Revis’s project was creating an oral health component for a training program used to teach caregivers of medically complex children and healthcare professionals at Almost Home Kids, a transition facility for children moving out of intensive hospital care.

Williams’ project served low-income adults at Ravenswood Community Services, a Chicagoland food pantry and community kitchen. She had an overarching goal of improving oral health literacy and connecting individuals to affordable dental care.
