Director of Graduate Studies
The Department of Periodontics provides instruction and clinical experience dealing with the etiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the periodontium in adults. This includes surgical placement of implants and implant maintenance. Programs are conducted by experienced faculty at the predoctoral and postdoctoral levels and in continuing education for dental professionals. The postdoctoral program is a 36 month clinical specialty training agenda leading to a Certificate of Proficiency in Periodontics and a research experience that can lead to an MS degree. The Departmental goal is to provide the predoctoral and postdoctoral student with a strong educational foundation in periodontology for their future careers in Dentistry and to contribute new knowledge through basic and clinical research in Periodontics.
