The department performs multiple functions within the College of Dentistry. Faculty in the department teach in the DDS program, the MS in Oral Sciences program , and other advanced training programs. There are active clinical and research programs closely linked to the oral cancer research initiatives in the Cancer Center, and studies in oral conditions in HIV. The DEMRT Center is also housed in the department. Clinical services provided by the department address oral medicine and orofacial pain. Services are provided by faculty with varied and extensive experience in clinical practice and research.
