Research Interests

Ameloblastin gene function in extracellular matrices.  Dr. Luan and her colleagues are interested in the role of enamel matrix genes such as ameloblastin in periodontal tissues. They also conduct studies on the role of epithelial cells in periodontal development and maintenance.

Periodontal regeneration.  Dr. Luan and her colleagues are interested in the unique properties of odontogenic stem cells. Currently, they are using stem cell-based concepts in the regeneration of periodontium, pulp, and bone.
