UIC Orthodontic Resident Won the AAOF Service Award at the AAO Annual Session in Miami Beach in May 2022

Another mile stone of the UIC COD Orthodontic Postgraduate Program. Dr. Samim Taraji who is a 2022 UIC Orthodontic Postgraduate Program graduate, won AAOF’s Service Award for serving as resident director in AAOF during the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) Annual Session in Miami Beach, FL on May 22nd 2022.
Dr. Samim Taraji earned his bachelor’s degree with honors at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He then attended dental school at UIC and completed his DMD degree with Summa Cum Laude honors in 2018. Dr. Taraji received the ADA Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership, the Chancellor Service Award, Frances Best Watkins Award, and the DMD Orthodontics Interest Award. Throughout his three year residency at the UIC COD Orthodontic Postgraduate Program, Dr. Taraji engaged in research regarding novel machine learning algorithms in prediction and treatment decision for orthodontic patients with Class III malocclusion. Dr. Taraji is grateful to the Orthodontics department, especially to department head Dr. Veerasathpurush Allareddy and his master thesis advisor Dr. Mohammed Elnagar for their endeavor and support.
