**NEW: PLEASE READ: Effective June 1, 2015, the College of Dentistry will accept applications for the DMD program from out-of-state candidates. However, there is a preference for Illinois residents as UIC is a state supported institution.
The UIC College of Dentistry currently participates in the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS). Applications must be submitted through this service. Applicants will be responsible for ensuring letters of recommendation have been received, as well as manually entering all grades from college level and higher coursework on the central application. After submitting the AADSAS application, applicants must complete the UIC DMD supplemental application. The system will request an $85 application fee which can only be paid via credit card. The UIC deadline is December 1st. We cannot accept applications nor fees after this date. OF IMPORTANCE: Applicants should check their spam filter levels and trash for essential UIC email and online supplemental application guidance. Once applications are completed, they will go under review. Selected, competitive candidates will be offered an interview.
**Please note that effective December 2, 2015 a $30 international credential evaluation fee will be assessed to applicants presenting any coursework taken outside the United States. Study abroad coursework by U.S. students is exempted from this fee. The evaluation fee must be paid after submission of the application through the UIC Admissions checklist.**
Dates and Deadlines
Applications for admission through AADSAS can be submitted between June 1st and November 15th of the year prior to matriculation. Both the AADSAS and UIC online application deadline is November 15th (effective Fall 2016) of each year. We are unable to accept late applications without exception. A rolling admissions process is used with preference given to earlier applications. Admission to the College of Dentistry is competitive, and it should be recognized that not all candidates who apply will be admitted. New classes enroll in the fall only, usually in mid-August.
Interviews are by invitation only and are required for DMD candidates. Interviews span a half day in duration and include a tour of the college. Interviews generally take place September to March.
Please note that application updates will be posted on the AADSAS portal . As a result of the high volume of applications we cannot provide phone or e-mail updates. Additionally, please be aware that due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), we are only able to provide status updates to applicants. In some cases, a status may not change for some time. UIC offers interviews by invitation only. Status changes are as follows and are determined on a rolling basis with all applicant final decisions typically made by April:
~Application complete (this could remain the same until April when final decisions are made)
Possible status changes approved by the committee include interview, offer, wait list/alternate and deny status. Not all interviewed candidates are accepted; not all applicants are interviewed (this is by committee invitation only). It is possible that a status may not change from complete until the conclusion of the cycle. The committee performs thorough reviews of each applicant and this does take time, so thank you for your patience.
It is requested that candidates update their Academic Records when AADSAS allows you to do so (between November and early February). Please do not submit materials to the Admissions office unless requested.
The UIC College of Dentistry is unable to accept transcripts, resume's and other documents once the AADSAS is submitted unless requested by our staff.
Offers of Acceptance
Candidates offered a seat of acceptance will be provided with a deadline in which to reserve his/her seat. In-state candidates offered a seat of acceptance must place a $500 deposit effective Fall 2015 ($1500 for nonresidents DMD and non resident PhD/DMD candidates) in the form of a check or money order, to reserve a seat. Students must successfully pass a criminal background check, and submit supplemental documents including official transcripts of all degrees and coursework. Students must also provide proof of residency & citizenship as conditions of admissions.
Reapplications and Deferrals
Application materials are not retained by UIC. If you would like to reapply, you must resubmit all materials through the AADSAS portal. Reapplicant advising is available following the close of the cycle after April 1 of each year. Requests for deferred entrance into our college are for exceptional circumstances only.
The Office of Admissions is unable to provide update information due to the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Further information can be found on the UIC website.
