About

Dr. Orlando Abreu was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Dr. Abreu received his Dental degree from the Universidad Santa Maria at his home city and moved with his wife to Puerto Rico and completed a two-year General Practice Residency in Dentistry (GPR) and also a Postdoctoral Master of Sciences in Clinical and Translation Research (focused in evaluation of periodontal disease and low serum vitamin D levels), both at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan. After dental school, he worked as a general dentist in Virginia’s New River Valley before moving to Chicago with his family. Dr. Abreu was appointed by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations of the American Dental Association and served as a test constructor for the past three years. Also, he served for the Council of Interstate Testing Agencies (CITA) for the ADEX examination on dental competencies. Dr. Abreu is a fan of the “back-to-back” World Series Champions Toronto Blue Jays, Virginia Tech Hokies and Leones del Caracas baseball club at his hometown in Venezuela. His wife, and dental school sweetheart, is a Pediatric dentist and they have three beautiful children. In their free time, they enjoy going to the beach, traveling and discovering new culinary options and family activities in Chicago.
