Research Currently in Progress
My laboratory is interested in understanding how cell-matrix interactions regulate homeostasis in the bones and cartilage of the craniofacial skeleton. We are particularly interested in understanding the interaction of tissue mechanics and cell-matrix derived signaling. The lab has multiple ongoing projects focused on how injury and disruptions in mechanical homeostasis: 1) disrupt the balance between cell death and survival, 2) promote fibrogenic remodeling of the extracellular matrix, and 3) impact osteochondral differentiation.
