Dr. Myles Clancy was born and raised just south of Boston, Massachusetts.  He received his B.A. In biology from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.  Before starting dental school, he worked for three years as a dental assistant. He earned his D.M.D. Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. During his free time Dr. Clancy enjoys skiing and golfing.

Dr. Amy Shah grew up in Rio Rico, Arizona and attended University of Arizona on a full scholarship studying Psychology and Chemistry. She then attended UIC and completed a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. By finally achieving her childhood dreams, Dr. Shah practiced dentistry for 5 years in both private and public sectors before realizing she realized kids are cooler and started her residency in Pediatrics. In her spare time she enjoys finding great restaurants, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Dr. Hilary Habel was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. She received a B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She worked as a dental hygienist for 3 years prior to starting dental school. She earned her D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan in 2016 and continued practicing dental hygiene during holiday breaks from school. Dr. Habel has always loved working with children and special needs populations. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog (Maizee).

Dr. Amy Lewis grew up in southern West Virginia. She obtained a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Shepherd University where she was named a McMurran Scholar. She continued her education at West Virginia University where she earned her D.D.S. degree. Dr. Lewis has spent the past four years practicing general dentistry in the community health setting where she recognized her passion for treating children. When not doing dentistry, Dr. Lewis enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her husband and two children.

Dr. Shahad AlShamali was born and raised in Kuwait. She obtained her Bachelor of Medical Science degree and Bachelor of Dental Medicine, in 2010 and 2013 respectively with honor from Kuwait University, Faculty of Dentistry. Dr.AlShamali is one of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry pulp therapy workgroup. Treating children with special needs is very important to Dr. AlShamali, which attracted her to UIC’s Advanced Pediatric Program. In her spare time, she enjoys flower arrangement and event planning.

Dr. Rami Mikati, a son of Lebanese immigrants, was born and raised in northeast Ohio. He received his D.D.S. degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry.  His desire to offer children and patients with special health care needs the highest level of treatment has led him to the field of pediatric dentistry. In his spare time, Dr. Mikati enjoys cheering on Cleveland's professional sports teams and writing restaurant reviews.

Dr. Jasma' McDonald was born and raised in Alabama. She obtained a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Alabama A&M University in 2010.  She obtained her D.D.S. from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in 2016.  She has a strong passion for serving others and has committed much of her dental education volunteering and organizing events aimed at decreasing health care disparities. In her spare time, Dr. McDonald enjoys watching and participating in sports and food & nature explorations.

Dr. Risa Hurwich was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised over the border in Northwest Indiana. She obtained her D.D.S. from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Hurwich’s passion for early prevention, patient education and positive dental experiences has motivated her to pursue pediatrics. Catching up with family and friends, enjoying good food and conversation and inventing silly words include some of her favorite pastimes and continue to keep life interesting.

Dr. Chi-Lan Pham is from Haymarket, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia where she received her Bachelor's degree in Biology. Following college, she worked as a K-12 substitute teacher and tutor. She subsequently earned her DDS degree at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where she was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. Dr. Pham is excited to be joining her love of dentistry and interest in working with children at the UIC Pediatric Dentistry program. She speaks Vietnamese, is an avid baker, and enjoys hiking and camping in her spare time.

Dr. Angelo Arce was born and raised in Lancaster, PA. He received his DDS from Columbia University. Angelo enjoys running and watching Netflix. Angelo is a simple man who enjoys the simple things. If it is nice out you can find him outdoors enjoying the sunlight.

Dr. Jamie Kaufer was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania outside of Pittsburgh. She obtained her B.S. in Neuroscience and B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also received her D.M.D. and M.P.H in 2017. Her passion for early intervention and prevention led her to the field of pediatrics.  Dr. Kaufer enjoys teaching, cooking, cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams, and exploring her new home in Chicago.

Dr. Kelsey Bara was born and raised in the Chicago Suburbs. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in biology from Benedictine University and her D.M.D. from UIC. Kelsey has always had a strong interest and passion for treating children with special needs, thus she is very excited to begin her postgraduate training in Pediatric Dentistry at UIC.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two children, cooking and working out.

Dr. Matthew Strumpf graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Earth and Planetary Science. He then decided to not leave Illinois, even though he hates the winters, and attended Midwestern University for dental school where he met his fiancé. Matt loves to swim, do outdoor activities, watch television like Game of Thrones, and to cheer on the Cubs. He has loved the challenge of working with different age groups and special needs children during the residency program so far.

Dr. Paulina Yarmarkovich was born in raised in Swampscott, Massachusetts. She received her B.S. in Microbiology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and went on to earn her D.M.D. at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Throughout this time, Dr. Yarmarkovich found her passion for treating pediatric patients, including those with special health care needs. In her spare time, Paulina loves spending time with her dogs, being outdoors, exploring new places, going to concerts and comedy shows, and cheering on her Wisconsin and Boston sports teams!

Dr. Samantha Cordell is a Chicago native, born in the city and grew up in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for undergrad and the University of Illinois at Chicago Dental School. She loves to check out the restaurant scene, likes live concerts, and is always looking forward to planning the next vacation. She has four siblings and both of parents are dentists.

Dr. Ann Mast grew up in the Appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina. She completed both undergraduate and dental education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her B.S. degree in Biology, B.A. degree in Asian Studies and her D.D.S degree from the school of dentistry. While in dental school, she received a 3-year HPSP scholarship with the United States Air Force. Following graduation, she served as a Captain in the United States Air Force Dental Corp where she worked as a general dentist treating active duty military personnel and their family members. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring new restaurants, and traveling. 

Dr. Monique Luu was born and raised in Portland, OR and went to the University of Washington in Seattle for both undergrad and dental school She loves to travel and can’t wait to see more beautiful cities both domestic and international. During her free time, she likes to listen to music, cook, swim and spending time with family and friends.

The Pediatric Dentistry clinics at UIC College of Dentistry in Chicago offer a full spectrum of services for all children at every stage of their lives from infancy through adolescence including those with special and complex oral health needs, and patients with special developmental and behavioral care needs. Our Pediatric Dentistry clinics provide comprehensive oral health examinations, teeth cleaning, fluoride treatments, sealants, restorative procedures (fillings, crowns, etc.), extractions and minor surgical procedures, space-maintainers, athletic mouth guard, teeth whitening (for adolescents), interceptive orthodontic when applicable, and urgent care (Trauma, infection, etc.). These services can be completed using inhalation sedation (Nitrous oxide), moderate sedation, and general anesthesia.
