In November, #GivingTuesday closed at UIC with $140,012 in giving from 830 donors. The College of Dentistry was a key contributor to the campaign’s success, quintupling its giving numbers from last year as the College raised $24,190 from 54 donors—18% of the overall campus total of dollars raised, and the leading dollar total on campus.

He earned his DMD from the UIC College of Dentistry in May, and Dr. Joseph Powers has decided to stay on, joining the faculty as a Clinical Instructor in Restorative Dentistry.

UIC College of Dentistry and Loyola University Chicago dental alumni will gather at the 2018 College of Dentistry Reunion at Carlisle Banquets, 435 E. Butterfield Rd. in Lombard, IL, Friday, April 20.
Tickets are $100 before Friday, March 2, and $125 after that date. An open bar reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m.
Reunion 2018 celebrates all members of DDS and specialty
The International College of Dentists recently provided a gift of over $2,400 to help fund the College’s international service learning rotations.
The College offers rotations in Guatemala, Tanzania, and China. At these rotations, students learn how dentistry is practiced in foreign countries and share their knowledge of American dentistry with their hosts.

In Fiscal Year 2017, the College set an Annual Fund goal of $500,000 for various College of Dentistry initiatives, including student scholarships, faculty support, research activities, programs and special events, and more.

Dr. Daniel M. Laskin, MS Oral Surgery ’52, who served as Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) from 1973 to 1983 and is an internationally known clinician, researcher, lecturer, and author, has made a generous gift to create the Dr. Daniel M. Laskin Faculty Fund. This fund is the precursor to an endowed professorship in Dr. Laskin’s honor within the department.
