The College of Dentistry is a fast-paced clinical environment.  Based on the needs throughout the College, the Dental Clinic Clerk I may receive assignments to various specialties throughout the work shift.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience working in a busy oral health patient care environment that serves a diverse patient population with a deep commitment to inclusion and ethical values.  Has excellent oral and written communication skills, has excellent stress management coping skills, and is flexible and diplomatic.  Candidates that are bilingual in Spanish and English are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

  1. High school graduation or equivalent
  2. One year (12 months) of experience in the categories below:
  1. Certified Dental Assistant in a dental clinic facility, program, or in dentistry practice if required by employing institution
  • OR -              
  1. Credit for college/university course work and/or training in dental care related areas, or closely related dental areas

        15 semester hours = six (6) months

        30 semester hours = twelve (12) months

  • OR –
  1. Customer service/management in a dental setting

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the College of Dentistry at University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time open rank faculty position in the Non-Tenured Clinical Track.

The Department seeks an excellent educator, mentor, and clinician with an interest in research to teach in both the pre-doctoral and post-graduate programs. The Department has a history of strong interaction with Public Health and allied health professions; thus, the ideal candidate should be able to work well within that environment. Responsibilities will include: (1) education of pediatric dental residents, dental students, physicians, nurses and medical residents; (2) delivery of dental care for children under general anesthesia and/or sedation; (3) participation in professional service; (4) production of scholarly activity, including presentations and publication of scientific manuscripts; and (5) mentoring of graduate student research projects, presentations, and publications. Participation in intramural or extramural practice may be available.

Qualifications include a DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent, completion of an US accredited specialty program in Pediatric Dentistry or foreign equivalent by the time of hire, hold or be eligible for dental license in Illinois, ability to obtain a controlled substances license, and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation/basic life support and/or pediatric advanced life support certificates required. Board certification preferred or ability to complete the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry certification process within three years of the date of hire. Candidate should have experience utilizing conscious sedation and general anesthesia for pediatric dental care. Experience or training in the care of medically compromised and/or special needs patients is also required.

Experience in evidence-based dentistry, curriculum development, and practice management and a strong background working with diverse patient populations are highly desirable. 

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with norms and criteria for faculty appointments within the College of Dentistry.

The Department seeks individuals with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary care and willingness to engage with all departments in the College.

Responsibilities are focused on all aspects of advanced specialty program instruction in the prosthodontics and the restorative sciences including all aspects of preclinical, didactic, clinical, implant and digital prosthodontics.  Predoctoral teaching related to Prosthodontics may also be part of the responsibilities. 

Qualifications include a DDS/DMD degree or foreign equivalent, eligible for licensure in Illinois, successful completion of a CODA accredited advanced education program in Prosthodontics, and prior teaching experience. Preferred qualifications include American Board of Prosthodontics Specialty Certification, one-year surgical implant fellowship experience.  Candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching, mentoring, research and service are highly preferred.

For the tenure position additional qualifications are documented publication record, previous university-level teaching experience, successful record of obtaining external grant funding, leadership experience in an academic environment.

The Department of Oral Biology in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking candidates for a full-time Visiting Research Specialist position. The research focus of the laboratory is hypoxia-induced gene expression studies in Oral & Head/Neck Cancer (HNSCC) and Colon Cancer.

The research specialist will be required to conduct experimental studies specifically analyzing the details on the role of DNA repair protein DDB2 in hypoxia-induced gene expression in Oral & Head/Neck Cancer (HNSCC) and Colon Cancer. The research specialist will conduct the routine assays including Tissue culture, Western blot, Real time PCR and Chromatin–IP and also perform immunohistochemistry and immunostaining using Cancer tissues and Cell lines.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required and a minimum of 3 years related research experience. 

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in science and 5 years of research experience with proficiency in specific laboratory research techniques and experience in Cancer Biology/Molecular Biology studies with publications. 

The ideal candidate will be able to write manuscripts and will have experience in cell culture and animal studies, has conducted experiments analyzing RNA and Protein expression and has assisted in analyzing immunocyto and immunohistochemical data.  The ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and excellent organizational and communication skills as well as a strong work ethic is strongly desired.
