UIC 3rd Year Orthodontic Residents are celebrating Dr. Michael Seelig for receiving the “Dr. Jerome and Mrs. Joy Fein Endowed Scholarship” on July 9, 2019. This award is given to a rising 3rd Year Orthodontic Resident who had demonstrated excellence during the residency program.

Dr. Arshad Mohammed, ’18, a first-year Resident in Orthodontics, passed away on March 28 due to a car accident.
“The entire Orthodontics family is deeply saddened by this,” said Dr. Sath Allareddy, Head, Orthodontics. “Arshad was a wonderful person. Our deepest condolences to his family.”
Dr. James J. Baldwin, a part-time Clinical Professor of Orthodontics who retired in 2014, passed away on Jan. 31 at age 93. Dr. Baldwin had taught at the College for 15 years, specializing in biomechanics. He was a pioneer in the development of the segmented arch technique.
Dr. Baldwin also taught at the Indiana University Dental School, where he had earned his DDS. He also held an MS from

He had been gone from the UIC College of Dentistry’s faculty for 28 years, but Dr. Robert Deaver always missed teaching there. He recently returned as a clinical instructor in the Brahms Clinic.
A 1982 DDS graduate of the college, Deaver had originally been on the faculty from 1985 to 1990. Before dental school, he had earned a BS in engineering from Marquette University. His practice is in Chicago’s

Knoernschild was first elected to the board in December 2010.
