Class of 2017

Dr. Randold Binns was born and raised in the Republic of Panamá. He obtained his D.D.S. from the School of Dentistry at the University of Panama and practiced general dentistry in both the government health sector and private practice. Dr. Binns moved to the U.S. to pursue a specialty career. He received his D.M.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2014 and was recognized by the American College of Prosthodontics and Academy of Osseointegration for his prosthodontic excellence. Dr. Binns strives to serve his patients with advanced information and techniques, gaining the best results and patient satisfaction. Attaining quality training in implant dentistry is very important to Dr. Binns, which attracted him to UIC’s Advanced Prosthodontic Program. In his spare time, Dr. Binns enjoys the beach and Salsa dancing.

Dr. Chris Coffey is from the south suburbs of Chicago. He received a B.S. degree in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Psychology, from Loras College in Dubuque, IA. He continued his education at the Illinois Institute of Technology where he earned a Master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Subsequently, he earned his D.D.S. degree from the Indiana University School of Dental Medicine and received the American College of Prosthodontists Award upon graduation. His desire to treat complex dental cases and offer his patients the highest level of treatment has led him to the field of prosthodontics. The diversity of patients and the progressive nature of the program made UIC’s Advanced Prosthodontic Program an ideal fit for him to pursue his prosthodontic goals. When not spending time with teeth, Dr. Coffey enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, golfing and relaxing by the lake.

Dr. Ghaith Darwish is originally from Iraq. In 2014, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago through the International Dentist Degree Program and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society upon graduation. Dr. Darwish favors prosthodontics due to his aptitude for science and passion for art. After residency, he would like to continue his education with fellowship training in maxillofacial prosthodontics.

Dr. Kyle Gazdeck hails from North Carolina, where he graduated as Valedictorian from North Carolina State University and received his D.D.S. degree with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. Dr. Gazdeck’s interest in prosthodontics stem from enjoying complex treatment planning and innovations in dental implants. He is looking forward to exploring Chicago, which has a population roughly 250 times that of his hometown. At the Advanced Prosthodontic Program, his Southern accent truly makes him stand out from his co-residents. In his free time, Dr. Gazdeck enjoys playing golf, reading, and trying out new restaurants, especially in Chinatown.

Dr. Krystle Kendall received her B.S. degree in Biological Sciences at Cornell University. She earned her D.M.D. degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation she received the American College of Prosthodontics Award and Outstanding Clinical Performance Award for Excellence in Prosthodontics. Dr. Kendall decided to pursue a prosthodontics specialty at UIC to further her knowledge involving implant restorative options and to provide care to patients with complex treatment and esthetic needs.

Dr. Tien Ha-Ngoc is from Massachusetts and received her B.A. from Dartmouth College where she majored in French and Linguistics. Following college, she worked as a youth counselor in Boston before starting her career in dentistry. She then stayed in the Northeast and received her D.M.D. from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. This is her first time living in the Midwest, so not only is she looking forward to working with and learning from the excellent faculty and co-residents at UIC but also is excited to explore Chicago and all that the city has to offer.

Dr. Ryan Matthews grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology at the University of North Carolina and later his D.M.D from Temple University Dental School. Upon graduation he was bestowed the award for outstanding work in Removable Prosthetics. Before entering dental school, Dr. Matthews worked as a dental technician, assistant and dental hygienist. His interest in comprehensive care and aesthetic dentistry is what drew him to UIC’s Advanced Prosthodontic Program. Aside from dentistry, Dr. Matthews enjoys spending time with his wife and son, as well as enjoys playing and watching sports.

Dr. Miguel A. Ortiz started his dental career in his home country of Argentina. At the young age of 21, he studied dental technology at the Los Angeles City College, where he graduated with honors and received the departmental Chemistry Student of the Year Award. Concurrently, Dr. Ortiz was a full-time dental technology team member at Den Tech, dental laboratory in Pasadena California. In 2010, he received his B.Sc. in Biochemistry with honors from the California State University at Los Angeles. Subsequently, Dr. Ortiz pursued his Doctoral Degree at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he received the Leo Talkov Award for Excellence in Clinical Dentistry. Dr. Ortiz’s passion for dentistry is apparent in every step of his training. His approach to patient care resembles that of a close friend. In his own words, “I treat every patient as if they are part of my family, presenting the same options and quality of care as I would do with my own parents”. His major strength is his ability to balance a personal and professional life without compromising either. Dr. Ortiz loves to spend time with his wife and children.

Dr. Stuart Schelkopf grew up in Dekalb, IL and graduated magna cum laude with University honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Chemistry. Successively, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014, where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honors society upon graduation. Dr. Schelkopf’s interests in complex restorative dentistry, dental implantology, and esthetics led him to continue his education at UIC in the Advanced Prosthodontics Program. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Schelkopf enjoys staying active in sports such as golf and basketball and spending time with his friends and family.

Dr. Christina Schiltz received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and subsequently her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa. Her interest in treatment planning and esthetics has led her to pursue the specialty of prosthodontics at UIC’s College of Dentistry in order to provide long-term complex restorative care that is not only visually appealing but also highly functional. She most enjoys helping patients achieve their oral health goals and gain a sense of confidence in their appearance. In her free time she enjoys running and spending time with her husband and son, Gavin.

Class of 2018

Dr. Saad S. AlResayes was born and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 2012, Dr. AlResayes earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the College of Dentistry- King Saud University including successful completion of six years of comprehensive studies and a one year internship. Upon graduation, Dr. AlResayes received The Ideal Student Award from the College of Dentistry for his academic excellence and clinical performance. Dr. AlResayes’ work experience includes practicing part time in a general practice and two years of participation as a Teaching Assistant in the College of Dentistry- King Saud University. Dr. AlResayes chose to specialize in Prosthodontics to gain the knowledge and skills to manage complex esthetic and implant cases that will improve patients’ quality of life. In his free time, Dr. AlResayes likes to explore the city of Chicago and take photographs of architecture and abstract art.

Dr. Sara Chen was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire. She received her B.S. degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. She subsequently earned her D.M.D. degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Chen is excited to continue her education at the UIC Advanced Prosthodontics Specialty Program and further her knowledge in treating patients with complex restorative needs.

Dr. Nathaniel Dancykier originally from New York,  attended the University Of Maryland School of Dentistry where he received his D.D.S. degree. Dr. Dancykier was awarded the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics Award for Excellence in Prosthodontics from UMSOD upon graduation. He also participated in an Implant Clerkship in his final year of dental school. Dr. Dancykier's interests in dental implantology, esthetics and his determination to deliver the highest quality of treatment to his patients are the driving forces behind his decision to further his education at UIC. Aside from dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Dr. Ingrid Carolina Herrera was born and raised in Colombia. She earned her DDS degree from the National University of Colombia in 2003, where she remained a dental practitioner for a couple years. In 2005, Dr. Herrera moved to the United States, and attended NOVA Southeastern University, graduating in 2015 with her DMD degree through the International Dentist Degree Program. After graduation, she worked as a general dentist practitioner in Miami for two years. Married, proud mother of twins, she strongly believes in always doing things not just the best she can, but the best they can possibly be done. She also believes that experience alone is not enough, but proper training is absolutely necessary. That is why she decided to further her education in the Prosthodontic field at UIC, the school she is sure can offer her the best training.

Dr. Ashley Nozik is from Rochester, a city in upstate NY. She attended Virginia Tech for undergraduate studies, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Business. After a year in business she decided to pursue dentistry and after graduating attended the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine as a 3rd generation dentist. Dr. Nozik decided to pursue a prosthodontics specialty at UIC because she has always enjoyed the challenges of comprehensive treatment planning and is particularly interested in how technology is enhancing the field of practice. In her free time, she enjoys running, yoga, crafting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Albert C. Park is from Vancouver, BC Canada. He attended the University of British Columbia where he received his Bachelor of Human Kinetics. After several years in sales and marketing, he decided to further his education at Howard University where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Society. Dr. Park's desire to treat complex cases and provide highly esthetic restorative care has brought him to the UIC Advanced Prosthodontics program. In his free time, he enjoys playing a variety of recreational sports and is an avid ice hockey fan.

Dr. Jesspreet Parmar was born and raised in Southwest Florida. He attended to the University of Florida where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Cell Science. He continued his studies at UF and received his D.M.D in 2015. He decided to pursue specialty training in prosthodontics at UIC to expand his knowledge in complex restorative treatment plans, implant placement and aesthetics. In his free time, Dr. Parmar enjoys spending time with family and friends, skeet shooting, playing video games, and traveling.

Dr. Samira Salari received her DMD from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and joins the UIC Prosthodontics department after a year of general practice residency in a community health center in South Boston. She completed her Bachelor’s degree as well as a Master of Science degree at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Salari is excited to advance her skills in dentistry to be able to offer better treatment options to her patients with complex needs. She was born in Tehran, Iran, where she lived for 13 years. She really enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures.

Class of 2019

Dr. Adam Ostrand considers the small town of Hinckley, Minnesota home although he grew up across the U.S. and abroad as his mother is in the United States Air Force. Adam graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a B.S. in Biochemistry. He received his D.D.S. from Creighton University School of Dentistry and was awarded with the American College of Prosthodontists  “Your Smile our Specialty Award” and the Hanau Excellence in Prosthodontics Award for his outstanding undergraduate achievement in the study of prosthodontics.  His drive to deliver the highest quality of care to his patients and his passion for complex treatment lead him to pursue a certificate in Prosthodontics at UIC. He feels the best approach to patient care is treating his patients as a friend. In his spare time he enjoys running, biking, woodworking, occasional motorcycle rides, and golfing.

Dr. Carly Park grew up in Darien, Connecticut. She graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a B.F.A in Studio Art and B.A in Art History. She then received a Graduate Gemology Diploma from the Gemological Institute of America and worked in the jewelry field before starting her career in dentistry. Dr. Park graduated with her D.M.D. degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She chose to specialize in Prosthodontics in order to combine her passion for art and medicine with complex restorative and aesthetic treatment and provide the highest quality care for her patients. In her free time, Dr. Park enjoys hiking, traveling, art, and crafts.

Dr. Diana Cuesta was born in Cuba and raised in Miami, Florida. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University where she studied Neurobiology and Italian. She later earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with clinical honors and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Her interest in comprehensive treatment planning, esthetics and implant dentistry drew her to UIC’s Advanced Prosthodontics Program. Her goal is to provide the most advanced dental care to restore the comfort and confidence of her patients. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Cuesta enjoys traveling, dancing and spending time with her friends and family. ​

Dr. Joshua Park is from Houston, Texas. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Houston and received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement in the Study of Prosthodontics Award from the American College of Prosthodontics at UTSD Houston in 2016. He is attending UIC Prosthodontics to provide the highest quality care for his patients and enjoys exploring Chicago's many attractions in his free time.

Dr. Laura Koo Min Chee grew up in the beautiful Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago. She graduated with honours from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Medical Sciences. Subsequently, she earned her D. M. D degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Koo Min Chee’s commitment to providing the highest quality of care to her patients is the driving force for continuing her educative journey at UIC in the Advanced Prosthodontics Program. She looks forward to advancing her skills in implantology, complex restorative dentistry, esthetics and digital dentistry. Though far from home, Dr. Koo Min Chee is excited to explore Chicago and to contribute her unique Caribbean culture to the UIC Prosthodontic family.   

Originally from North Carolina. Dr. Lisa St. Bernard was raised in Connecticut. She completed her B.S. in Biology at University of Connecticut and her D.M.D. from University of Connecticut school of Dental Medicine. There she received an award for her accomplishments in prosthodontics. She was drawn to prosthodontics because of her strong interest in esthetics and creating a healthy and functional smile. Dr. St. Bernard is a proud wife and mother of one.

Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Zachary Danowit attended Marquette University, where he received his bachelor-degree with a major in History. Afterwards, he attended Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia where he earned his D.M.D. degree. Upon graduation he was awarded the Dentsply International Merit Award in recognition of having completed with distinction the studies of removable prosthodontics. Dr. Danowit gravitated towards Prosthodontics, due to his affinity for prosthetic excellence and his pursuit of the knowledge that would allow him to best serve his patients. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, swimming, biking, and running and competing in local and national triathlons.
