UIC Community: Funding Opportunities:
ANNOUNCEMENT
Request for Technology Implementation Proposals:
Interdisciplinary Research in Cancer from an Oral Perspective
pdf | word
The College of Dentistry, as part of the U24 research infrastructure grant entitled Interdisciplinary Research in Cancer from an Oral Perspective, is offering 'technology development grants' for full-time faculty members to fund new technology implementation proposals. Technology implementation funds may be used to purchase supplies related to new technology, equipment, and/or usage fees for existing UIC core equipment.
Full-time faculty are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a two-page written proposal and make a brief oral presentation to the U24 Internal Advisory Committee (see attached guidelines). Applications will be considered as received on an ongoing, non-competitive basis. The U24 Internal Advisory Committee will make the final award decisions.
Awards are anticipated to be primarily in the $1,0005,000 range, but the Committee will consider all applications, including somewhat larger grants (based on outstanding circumstances as detailed in the proposal).
All award recipients are also required to make a presentation about the technology and their experience to the College research faculty at a subsequent Faculty Research Forum meeting.
Examples of possible items for grant support include (but are not limited to):
 |
purchase of supplies and equipment for microarrays
|
 |
fluorescent-activated cell sorting
|
 |
resources to utilize the UIC laser microcapture unit
|
Please submit your electronic application via email to Dr. Phillip Marucha (marucha@uic.edu), and provide a paper copy including an original signed statement to the Periodontics Department Office (Room 458). You will then be contacted with a date to make your oral presentation to the Internal Advisory Committee.
Contact Dr. Phillip Marucha (U24 PI) or Dr. Christine D. Wu (U24 Co-PI) with any questions regarding the proposal submission process.
Written Application
Written applications should be no more than two single-spaced pages and should respond to the following items. Please also read and sign the statement at the bottom, and return an original paper copy to the Periodontics Department Office (Room 458). After submitting your written proposal, you will be invited to make a brief oral presentation to the U24 Internal Advisory Committee.
