LEO R. BLOOMFIELD

Leo Richard Bloomfield received an Advanced Accounting Diploma in 1970 from the American Institute of Commerce, Davenport, IA. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Upper Iowa University, Fayette, IA, in 1984. He has maintained a current status since 1998 with the National Registry, Columbus, OH, as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B).

Mr. Bloomfield served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-1974 and in 1984 re-entered the military as a traditional guardsman with the Peoria, IL Air National Guard. He was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in 1989 and since 2002, has served as the full time Senior Health Systems Specialist (Administrator) for the Milwaukee, WI Air Guard.

His military career has been devoted largely to Public Health, Deployment Medicine, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) prevention and readiness. He received training in Medical Intelligence through the North Kingstown , RI Air Guard and completed the Medical Response to Biological Warfare and Terrorism Course through the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). He has also provided WMD training to troops, has participated in the Air Guard Homeland Defense Strategy Planning Sessions in Boston, MA, and played an instrumental role in the development of a Base "Anthrax Incident Plan' at the Milwaukee, WI Air Guard. He is the recipient of several military service awards and received national recognition as 1997 Air National Guard Outstanding Public Health Technician of the Year.
