About

Dr. Afshari has been a dedicated member of the UIC College of Dentistry since her matriculation in 2009 in the Post-Graduate Prosthodontic Program, having completed her DMD Degree at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Johnson and Johnson Preventative Dentistry Award, UIC Council of Excellence in Teaching and Learning Awards, and the 2016 Claude Baker Faculty Award. Dr. Afshari is a Faculty Dental Practice Provider at the College, and an active member of the American College of Prosthodontists. She is also course director of the pre-patient complete denture course and instructs dental students in implant restorative techniques in the UIC Implant and Innovations Center.

Clinical activities & specialties

Dr. Afshari has participated in various pre-clinical didactic and laboratory courses, has been Co-Course Director in a number of DAOB Courses, and Course Director of the Complete Denture Prosthodontics Course. She has contributed significantly to the Pre-Doctoral Implant Program, and developed the web-based implant workflow documents to collect treatment data related to CAD/CAM prosthesis status within the Pre-Doctoral Digital Program.

Research Currently in Progress

Dr. Afshari has completed research and college initiatives in a variety of areas including Patient Recall Programs, Caries Risk Assessment and Management, Advanced Pre-Doctoral Implant Education, Implant Overdentures and Digital Denture fabrication. Dr. Afshari has also been the recipient of multiple grants and fellowships supporting her research.
