Research Faculty Member Profile
    • Xianghong Luan, PhD
    • Assistant Professor

    • Research Interests:
    • Visit the Brodie Laboratory for Craniofacial Genetics
    • Ameloblastin gene function in the periodontal ligament. Dr. Luan and her colleagues have been interested in understanding the role of epithelial cells in periodontal development and maintenance. They are especially interested in the role of enamel matrix genes such as ameloblastin in the biomineralization equilibrium of periodontal tissues.
    • Periodontal regeneration. Dr. Luan and her colleagues are interested in the unique properties of stem cells of the periodontal region. Currently, they are using stem cell-based concepts in the regeneration of periodontal tissues.
