Prevention & Public Health: Research
  • Research Activities

  • The Division of Prevention and Public Health Sciences is the holder of several grants and awards. The overarching research focus is health disparities, including provision of an oral health workforce prepared to address health disparities issues. The largest effort is that of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant initiative "Pipeline, Profession and Practice: Community-Based Dental Education."
  • The UIC COD is one of 11 dental schools across the nation supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, with another four dental schools funded by The California Endowment. The intent of this initiative is to increase access to dental care for underserved populations by improving the curriculum of dental schools and to increase recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority and low-income dental students and faculty members. More information on the National Program Office and other aspects of the Pipeline grant can be found at http://www.dentalpipeline.org/
