
Dr. Robert Schmidt
Dr. Robert Schmidt comes from Dayton, Ohio, and attended Marquette University, where he studied biomedical sciences. In 2004, Dr. Schmidt graduated from Marquette with his DDS. He was awarded the Dean Goggins Research Award while attending Marquette. Dr. Schmidt accepted a commission as a Captain in the U.S. Army after graduation and served from 2004 to 2009. He completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and subsequently was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Medical Detachment, and later to the Fort Hood Dental Activity. He also completed two overseas deployments to Iraq. While serving in the military, Captain Schmidt was awarded the Bronze Star-Meritorious, the Army Commendation Medal (twice), the Army Achievement Medal (twice), the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Basic Parachute Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Combat Medic Badge, and the German Parachutist Badge–Bronze. Robert’s interests include reading, movies, long-distance running, weight lifting, traveling, and community service, and he is an automobile enthusiast. Dr. Schmidt’s areas of research interests include bone inflammation and repair and the surgical aspects of endodontics. Dr. Schmidt plans to go into private practice upon completion of the program and also plans to teach part-time while pursuing Board Certification from the American Board of Endodontics.
