Course Information
  • Course Fees

  • Course fees include the cost of all materials, morning refreshments, and validated campus parking. Fees for full-day programs also include lunch. Exclusions are noted in individual course descriptions.
  • Credit Certificates

  • Verification of Participation certificates are provided to participants at the end of each course. Certificates will be mailed within 30 days of the end of the course unless otherwise noted in course materials. AGD credit will be verified upon request. Verification of previously earned credit in transcript form is also available upon request.
  • Policy on Cancellations and Refunds

  • All cancellation requests MUST be received in writing and are subject to a $50 processing fee. The Office of Continuing Education has the following cancellation policy: Full refund, minus $50 processing fee for cancellations received on or before six weeks prior to the event. 75% refund, minus $50 processing fee for cancellations received between four-to-six weeks prior to the event. 25% refund, minus $50 processing fee for cancellations received less than four weeks prior to the event. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than three (3) business days prior to a scheduled event.
  • The UIC College of Dentistry reserves the right to cancel any event due to low participation or other circumstances beyond its control. In the event of a cancellation by the UIC College of Dentistry, registrants will receive a full refund of any registration monies paid. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of the event conclusion. "No shows" will not be eligible for a refund.
  • Continuing Education on 3-D Imaging Subject of Seminar at UIC College of Dentistry

  • “3-D Imaging: Enhancing the diagnostic accuracy of your practice with CBCT” (cone beam computed tomography) will be a Continuing Education presentation at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. It will be held at the College, 801 S. Paulina St., Chicago, IL, 60612, Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 7:45 a.m. to noon. There is no charge for registration.
  • This half-day seminar will offer information about the diagnostic capabilities provided by 3-D imaging and its successful implementation into dental practice. Vital information will be provided by speakers and supported by Imaging Sciences International, Gendex Dental Systems and Henry Schein Dental through the 3D Imaging Institute on GXCB-500 and i-CAT CBCT technology.
  • Participants will become familiar with 3-D applications for general and specialty dental practices; learn about access to a wide range of clinical information; become educated on the many ways to evaluate implant cases using CBCT technology; and understand the impact 3-D scanning will have on the patient’s decision for treatment.
  • Speakers will be Dr. Alan Dalessandro, an expert in the use of CBCT regarding diagnosis, pathology, and implant placement, and Dr. Richard Monahan, Head, Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, UIC College of Dentistry, an expert on all aspects of maxillofacial imaging.
  • The day will provide four hours of Continuing Education credit.

  • Moderate (Conscious) Sedation for the Dental Practitioner Wishing to Obtain a State of Illinois Permit A

  • This course is intended for the dental practitioner who wants to incorporate moderate sedation techniques into his/her practice. The course is designed to satisfy the requirements of the ADA and the State of Illinois.
  • The course consists of 60 hours (may be increased to 75 hours to comply with State of Illinois Requirements) of didactic instructions and 20 clinical case experiences. The didactic portion is usually accomplished as a block of lectures given during a week. After completing the didactic portion the student must complete 20 case experiences which must be accomplished in the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic and the Pediatric Dental Clinic during the next 12 months. This course is rigorous and requires a great deal of study and time outside the classroom and clinic. The cost for the course is $7,500.
  • Prerequisite: An Illinois Dental License and Current BLS are prerequisites The next offering is intended for the first or second week of November 2009.
  • Dental Anesthesia Assistants Monitoring Course

  • This course is designed for dental assistants working in dental, oral surgery, pediatric dental offices, or periodontic offices where deep sedation, general anesthesia, or moderate sedation is being administered. Twelve hours of CE credit will be provided over a two-day period.
  • The course will satisfy proposed requirements of the Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulation for dental assistants working in offices where sedation is being administered. The student will receive lectures and clinical instruction including: pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, and monitoring during dental sedation.
  • Cost of Course: $375 for two days.
  • Prerequisite: Current BLS and employment in dental office where sedation/general anesthesia is administered.
  • The next offering is anticipated in mid- or late-2009, but is awaiting completion of State of Illinois requirements.
