Facilities
  • The facilities of the Center as well as of various research units on the campus are designed to support all aspects of a program in modern molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology research. Within the Center itself, there are facilities for cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, video capture, gel documentation, visible, ultraviolet and fluorescence spectrophotometry, chromatographic and electrophoretic equipment, ultracentrifuges, and cell harvesters.
  • Instrumentation appropriate for peptide and nucleotide sequencing and synthesis is also available. The Research Resources Facility at UIC operates an NMR facility, an electron microscope facility containing both transmission and scanning microscopes, a confocal microscope, FACS, and a mass spectrophotometry facility. The University provides computer resources important for the operation and processing of data as well as a molecular graphics facility. The Center is located near the UIC Health Science Library, which is one of the finest in the Midwest.
