IDP Degree Completion Program
  • Welcome!

  • The UIC College of Dentistry announces a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree completion program for former graduates of the UIC College of Dentistry International Dentist Program (IDP) that received a certificate in years 1996 thru 2006.
  • Please note, if you are not a graduate of the UIC IDP, you do not qualify for this program. Certificates from other United States institutions will not qualify you for this program. If you are a dentist trained outside of the United States or Canada and are interested in our International Dentist Degree Program, click here.
  • The IDP Degree Completion Program requires that former IDP certificate graduates enroll and re-matriculate in the College of Dentistry. All former IDP certificate students must complete an application and meet the current admission requirements of the International Dentist Degree Program (IDDP).
  • Upon enrollment, the University of Illinois at Chicago will provide course hour credit for courses completed in the IDP Certificate program towards the IDDP (DDS) degree. In addition, enrollees would need to take the following courses:
    • Dental Ethics (DBSC 321) 1 Credit hour
    • Intro to Geriatrics (OMDS 336) 1 Credit Hour
    • Intro to Hospital Dentistry (PEDD 337) 1 Credit Hour
    • Comprehensive Care IIIB DADM 320 4 Credit Hours* (The clinical portion of this course will be provided by students in the private practice the he/she is currently working in and reviewed by faculty and presented by students.)
  • Clinical course to demonstrate competence in treating medically compromised patients using a portfolio
  • Dental Ethics (DBSC 321), Introduction to Geriatrics (OMDS 336) and Introduction to Hospital Dentistry (PEDD 337) will be taught in 1-week blocks during the spring semester beginning in 2009. Comprehensive Care IIIB (DADM 320) will be taught in two 1-week blocks during the fall semester beginning in 2009.
  • It is anticipated that former IDP graduates would be able to complete the IDDP requirements as part-time students in 2 semesters. The enrollment period for this degree completion program is limited to 2009 and 2010.
