  • Yes. A bachelor’s degree earned from a US institution is required.
  • Q: Does taking courses online affect my application?

  • UIC discourages applicants from taking online coursework for the prerequisite classes and elective science courses.

  • Q: How do I establish Illinois residency?

  • Generally an applicant is considered an Illinois resident if he/she went to high school in the state of Illinois, or has been living in the state for one full calendar year without attending school.   • Q: How do I apply to UIC?

  • To apply to UIC please submit your application through the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS). You can access their website at the following link https://portal.aadsasweb.org
  • Q: What is the application deadline?

  • The application cycle typically opens in June of each year. The application deadline for our DMD program is December 1st. The Associated American Dental Schools Application Services (AADSAS) will not accept applications after December 1st.
  • Q: Does it matter when I apply to the college?

  • Early applications are highly encouraged.
  • Q: I applied last year. What do I need to do to reapply?

  • You must submit ALL application materials through the AADSAS website.
  • Q: Does UIC require interviews?

  • The Admissions committee selects which candidates it wishes to interview and sends out interview invitations beginning in mid-September. The interviews take place annually from October to February. Interviews are offered by invitation only.
  • Q: When will a decision be made on my file?

  • The Admissions committee sends out initial offers of admission and denials on December 1. After December 1, the Admission committee will make decision on a rolling basis.
  • Q: Does UIC retain application materials between cycles?

  • No. Should the student choose to reapply they must re-submit all application materials including an AADSAS application, letters of recommendation, DAT scores, and a new application fee.
  • Q: Do I need to complete all of my prerequisite coursework before I apply to UIC?

  • Most prerequisite courses should be completed before applying. Prior to matriculation, you will be required to submit transcripts showing completion of all requirements.
  • Q: Is it possible to defer admissions?

  • No, we do not allow students to defer their admission.
  • Letters of Recommendation

  • Q: How many letters of recommendation does UIC require?

  • UIC requires 3 letters of recommendation. Two of those letters should come from science professors, and the third can come from a person of the applicant’s choice. If a non-traditional applicant is unable to secure letters from professors, letters from employers will suffice. A committee letter can be submitted in lieu of three individual letters.
  • Q: Can I submit more than 3 letters?

  • It is recommended that you not submit more than three letters. The Admissions committee will only take three letters into consideration.
  • Q: Can I send my letters directly to UIC? To what address?

  • It is highly preferred that applicants can submit their letters of recommendation via AADSAS. You can also send letters directly to UIC. Letters should be sent to the following address:

  • Yes. Committee letters may be submitted in lieu of three individual letters.

  • Q: How much is UIC’s application fee?

  • The application fee is $85. The $85 dollars must be paid via check or money order. Please include your AADSAS id number that you will be assigned upon completion of your dental school application.

  • After receiving acknowledgment from the Office of Admissions send a check or money order payable to the University of Illinois at Chicago to:
