Dr. Rand F. Harlow to Present During the Colleges first-ever Continuing Education at Sea aboard the Silversea Silver Shadow

Dr. Rand F. Harlow, Clinical Assistant Professor, Director of Predoctoral Implant Education, will present his course, Implant Dentistry: Past, Present, and Future, during the Colleges first-ever continuing education at sea embarking on July 4, 2013 aboard the Silversea luxury cruise ship, Silver Shadow, on an Alaskan voyage.

This six hour continuing education course will focus on the transition of implant dentistry from its initiation into the United States in the 1980s to its prominence in dentistry today. Dental implants have become the standard of care for a variety of treatment situations. With the popularity of the internet, patients are becoming more educated on implant procedures and their dental treatment choices. As technology evolves, implant care affords new and exciting opportunities for the replacement of teeth and improvement in the quality of life for many patients. New dental implant technologies have greatly improved the ability of the dentist to effectively perform implant procedures. In addition, dental implant education has assumed an important role in the future of dentistry. Dental students are now learning how to properly assess, diagnose, treat and refer implant patients. This course will explore the transition of implant dentistry from an experimental procedure to a state of the art treatment modality that has unlimited potential for future dental patient care.
