Modernizing an outdated Medicaid system, Governor Quinn signed legislation on June 16, 2014 restoring previously authorized adult dental care to Illinois’ three million Medicaid recipients. The legislation is “part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to ensure all people have access to quality healthcare and improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Illinois.”

The inclusion of dental care in the bill emphasizes dentistry’s importance in maintaining a person’s overall health. Prior to the signing of this bill, adult dental services were limited to emergency services.
