Clinical and Research Interests

My research uses interdisciplinary methods to understand variance in the material properties of bone and teeth. I am interested in both the molecular mechanisms responsible for generating this variance, and the consequence of this variance on the biomechanical behavior of the tissue. I am currently pursuing this research in two functional systems, the mandibular condylar cartilage and in tooth enamel, using approaches from both a disease model and evolutionary perspective.
