Dr. Indru Punwani Elected President of IADR’s New Pediatric Oral Health Research Scientific Group
Posted on 10/11/2013

Congratulations to Dr. Indru Punwani on his election as the inaugural President of the Pediatric Oral Health Research (POHR) Scientific Group of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR).

As IADR’s newest research group, the POHR Scientific Group was created to integrate research from all fields applicable to pediatric populations and to present symposia and research presentations at AADR and IADR.

Until now, research related to pediatric dentistry has been presented at meetings of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the International Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and various other national and International Oral health scientific groups; this scattered approach makes it challenging to consolidate the efforts and find synergistic approaches. The POHR Scientific Group will bring scientists, and interested researchers/clinicians and students working on pediatric oral health research together for increased collaboration.

Dr. Punwani, passionate about the project reiterates, "Early childhood caries is the most common disease of children. The goal of the POHR scientific group of the IADR is to reduce this disease burden especially in children from underserved communities though the POHR scientific group’s collaborative research approach. I am very excited to be in a position to lead this effort."
