new state of the science labs

Recently renovated lab spaces are now open and ready for research! After many years of hard work involving a multitude of contributors, the COD has completed and opened 40,000 square feet of state-of-the-science research facilities. The two labs comprise one of the largest dental school research facilities in the United States.

23,000 square feet of the renovated facilities was funded by a $9.9 million “research facilities renovation CO6 grant” under the American Recovery and Reinvestment “stimulus” program, financed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/National Center for Research Resources.  The COD is one of three American dental research facilities to receive the competitive funding, demonstrating NIH’s confidence and support of COD research faculty.

Renovated spaces include laboratories on the 4th and 5th floors, space and infrastructure for shared freezers and core equipment, renovation and expansion of our animal facilities and construction of clinical research space. The research facilities transform COD’s physical environment, and stimulate and support innovative research endeavors and clinical and translational science.
