A model of progressive and successful not for profit in rural Wisconsin and their major commitment to oral and general health presented by Mr. Greg Nycz, Director of Family Health Center of Marshfield, Inc.
Wisconsin has consistently ranked among the worst states in the Nation in providing oral health care to its children from low-income families. Access to oral health services for the poor of all ages, for the disabled, and for many with complex medical conditions has been equally difficult. Following the Surgeon General’s report on the oral health of the nation, Family Health Center and Marshfield Clinic set about the task of addressing this challenge. The presentation will focus on the role health planning around infrastructure needs, efforts to integrate medicine and dentistry, research, and education all play in propelling us to a future system that addresses oral health disparities among historically disadvantaged groups. The important role of collaboration and partnership in this endeavor will also be highlighted.
