The College of Dentistry at UIC is seeking full-time, enthusiastic dental assistants who enjoy working in a diverse teaching environment.

Primary responsibilities include assisting dental students/residents and faculty at the chairside, sterilizing and arranging instruments, materials and equipment for use by the student/resident or faculty member. Will provide routine office responsibilities including scheduling appointments, ordering supplies, answering phones and general duties.

Minimum qualifications include two years of experience in dental assisting and knowledge of sit-down four handed dentistry. Additional preferred qualifications include the ability to speak and write English and Spanish, operating room experience and experience working with children and/or special needs patients. The College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking one full-time Central Sterilization Supply Technician.

The primary duties of this position include the preparation and processing of instruments, supplies and equipment. This includes cleaning, disinfecting, restocking, packaging and sterilizing these items. Operate semiautomatic and automatic sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and dishwasher – disinfectors. Other related duties as assigned.

This position plays a vital role at the College of Dentistry. Patients, Students, Faculty and Staff all rely in the sterility of the dental instruments. The College relies on the sterilization technician to provide sterile instruments for each day’s procedure.

High school graduation or equivalent or two (2)years of high school education, graduation from a state-approved school for practical nurses, and eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation

One to two years of experience using sterile procedures in a clinical/hospital setting.
