  • Director of Clinical Operations, College of Dentistry

  • The Director of Clinical Operations has responsibility for overseeing the administrative operations of undergraduate, graduate, specialty and faculty practice clinics of the College of Dentistry in consultation with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.
  • Duties include: Assist in overseeing operations of the undergraduate, postgraduate and specialty clinics including patient registration; assist in overseeing development and implementation of new or revised policies and procedures for clinical operations; and other areas as needed. Including but not limited to QA, licensing and regulatory compliance and monitoring of facility maintenance. Coordinates licensing boards for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Coordinates Basic Life Support training for clinical staff, students and faculty. Coordinates interpreting services and other clinical support functions. Participates in development and implementation of clinical programs. Oversees compliance with clinic guidelines and financial policies. Provides direct and indirect supervision to clinic staff and students.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to work with staff, faculty and students from various backgrounds and skill sets; understanding and appreciation for the need of strong “customer satisfaction” programs, CQI principles and a commitment to “patient-friendly” care; ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff and students; strong organizational and analytic skills including the ability to assess problem situations quickly; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of senior management and line staff; experience in the preparation of management reports, including the use of graphics and other visual tools; public speaking; knowledge and experience in accounting and financial reporting and financial information systems; experience in development of system requirements and implementation of organization-wide applications; background in risk management programs and understanding compliance with regulatory health standards; and experience working in a health care and/or academic environment.
  • Minimum degree required: BS; preferably in a health related field. RDH highly preferred. Experience in dental school clinical/patient affairs office preferred. Masters degree or higher in Health Administration or equivalent preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency are required.
