Grants and Contracts Associate - Office of Research

The Office of Research in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a Grants and Contracts Associate who will be responsible providing service and direction to College of Dentistry faculty and business managers for the post-award activities of the College’s externally funded grants.  Duties include serving as the primary point of contact for faculty regarding sponsored awards, reporting, budgeting preparing sponsored-required financial reports, and supporting internal and external audit requests.  The associate coordinates grant-reporting activities among departments within the Colleges and is responsible for verification and accuracy of grant expenditures for the life of the grant(s) for reporting purposes.

The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting, Certified Research Associate certification or MBA.  General knowledge of sponsored programs, grant application processes, and government agency guidelines for post-award activities and audit guidelines.  One to two years of grant management/federal grant experience and experience in fund accounting and business systems.  Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications.

Accounting Associate - Office of Financial Affairs

The Office of Financial Affairs at the UIC College of Dentistry is seeking experienced candidates for a full-time benefits eligible position as an Accounting Associate.  Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Affairs, the Accounting Associate performs a variety of tasks that include accounting, budget analysis and review, cost accounting, and/or other comprehensive fiscal functions. This individual will monitor fiscal solvency and ensure funding compliance within the College of Dentistry. Department of Pediatric Dentistry

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the College of Dentistry at University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time open rank faculty position in either the tenure/non-tenured clinical track.

The Department seeks an excellent educator, mentor, and clinician with an interest in research to teach in both the pre-doctoral and post-graduate programs. The Department has a history of strong interaction with Public Health; thus, the ideal candidate should be able to work well within that environment. Responsibilities will include: (1) resident, physician, and  dental/medical/nursing resident and student education and training; (2) delivery of dental care for children under general anesthesia and sedation; (3) professional service; (4) scholarly activity, including presentations and publication of scientific manuscripts; and (5) mentoring of graduate student research projects, presentations, and publications. Participation in intramural or extramural practice is available.

Qualifications include a DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent, completion of an accredited specialty program in Pediatric Dentistry by the time of hire, currently hold or be eligible for dental licenses in Illinois, maintain specialty and  controlled substances licenses, and current CPR/BLS and/or PALS certificates.  Board certified or board eligible (if board-eligible, the candidate will be expected to complete the board certification process within three years of the date of hire).  Candidate should have experience utilizing conscious sedation and general anesthesia for dental care.  Experience in evidence-based dentistry, curriculum development, and practice management and a strong background working with diverse patient populations is highly desirable.  Academic rank, tenure/non-tenured track and salary will be commensurate with norms and criteria for faculty appointments within the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.

Qualifications include a DDS/DMD degree, and current dental license and be eligible for Illinois dental licensure. Completion of advanced education in a CODA-accredited Dental Anesthesiology Program for at least two years required. An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in an area related to anesthesiology or Diplomat status by the American Board of Dental  Anesthesiology is preferred. Extensive experience in providing sedation and general anesthesia for a variety of full-scope dental and oral surgical and head and neck procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, including ambulatory, non-hospital based orthognathic surgery and reconstruction, and aesthetic facial surgery required. Extra Help Temporary - Equipment Specialist 
Dental Clinics

The College of Dentistry, Office for Clinical Affairs, at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking an Extra Help (temporary) Equipment Specialist to assist during the College HVAC construction project.  Desired Start Date is January 29, 2018 or as soon as clearances are received.

The Extra Help Equipment Specialist must be knowledgeable of mechanical principles, construction, operation, overhaul, maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment, knowledgeable of the basic physical sciences, able to read and interpret blueprints and technical publications, able to understand and interpret standard shop terminology.  The specialist is professional, able to deal with clients in a friendly and positive manner, reliable, enthusiastic and enjoys working in a diverse, clinical/teaching environment. 

Qualifications include: High School Diploma and three (3) years of technical, trade, or craft experience, education, and/or training related to one or more areas of equipment specialization

Temporary assignments are limited to 900 hours and are non-benefits eligible.  Rate of Pay is $17.79 non-negotiable.  Work Hours are Monday-Friday from 6:00 am-2:00 pm.

Extra Help Temporary - Business Support
Office of Financial Affairs

The College of Dentistry, Office for Financial Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill several Extra Help (temporary) positions to work as business support.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  

Ideal candidates will have experience working in a dental organization and familiarity with revenue cycle, processing of invoices, basic bookkeeping, data entry, inventory management, and familiarity with dental codes.  Candidates should be able to apply office methods and procedures, be able to make accurate arithmetic calculations, make corrections in records, maintain files and records, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word). 

General qualifications include work experience performing general clerical, financial or accounting work in a dental organization, college course work in office occupations, business administration, business education, or closely related fields, vocational training that provided a knowledge of bookkeeping procedures, college course work in any curriculum, or college course work in accounting.

Clinical Research Coordinator

The Office of Research in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator who will be responsible for managing all components of clinical research protocols for the Clinical Research Center in the College of Dentistry, including pre and post research activities, in and outside the clinical setting.  Responsibilities include the implementation and conducting of multiple research projects; developing effective patient recruitment strategies; coordinating comprehensive patient protocol treatment schedules to maintain compliance to protocol requirements; assisting principal investigators in preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and the daily management of clinical research. The Coordinator will also oversee and participate in subject recruitment, screening, scheduling, testing, and data management of oral health studies.

The idea candidate will have knowledge of research protocols, principles and procedures; knowledge of aspects of clinical trials such as screening, interviewing, case reports forms, knowledge of experimental design, computer applications and computer data management.  Knowledge of ethics and regulatory procedures (i.e. informed consent, IRB applications, data safety, and monitoring plans) and knowledge of clinical tasks required for research (e.g. phlebotomy, centrifugation, interviewing).

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a dental or medical field such as dental hygiene, nursing, mental health, psychology, pharmaceutical sciences, social science, or a related field required.  Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and at least one-year experience in clinical research activity highly preferred.
